Deleting a Line in a Standard Journal Entry

1. When you first enter the Journal Entry function, a Select An Option menu will appear. Select Standard Journal Entries.

2. From the list, select the standard journal entry you wish to edit. The standard journal entry will appear.

Note: You may delete individual lines when adding new standard journal entries. Select Delete to make changes to the standard journal entries before you update.

3. Command options will appear at the bottom of the screen; select Delete. The first line of the entry will be encircled by a dotted line indicating that you may now delete the line. Use the arrow buttons to move between individual lines within the standard journal entry. Press Enter to delete the individual line within the standard journal entry. Repeat to delete additional lines. Select Update.

Note: The standard journal entry must be in balance. You will receive an error message ("UPDATE ABORTED:Credits and debits not equal!!! Space Bar to Continue") if changes to the standard journal entry cause the entry not to balance. The standard journal entry must be in balance; you must add a line to make the entry balance or select Exit followed by Exit without Updating (Yes) in order to continue.

4. If necessary (to make the standard journal entry balance), add (a) new lines(s) to the standard journal entry. You may also choose to exit. When prompted by the "Exit without Updating" message, select Yes to exit or No to return to the standard journal entry.

5. Once your standard journal entry is in balance select Update. The Standard Journal Entry has now been modified.
